How to Plan for a Smooth First Day

Welcome to The Sunshine House! Congratulations on taking this exciting step in your child’s education and development. We’re here to guide you through your child’s first day with us, ensuring everything goes as smoothly as possible.

1. What should my child wear?

• Comfortable, seasonally-appropriate clothes that can get dirty are best—don’t forget, children will be actively playing!
• Tennis shoes or sneakers with skid-resistant soles are required for safety.
• Necklaces and hoop or dangling earrings are not permitted, since jewelry can get accidentally pulled or caught during play.

2. What should I bring for my child?

• At least one change of seasonal clothing, labeled with your child’s name.
• A family photo we can display (helps your child feel more at home!).
• Backpacks may not be allowed at all centers, so please confirm with your director.
• Do not bring food. If your child has medically-necessary dietary restrictions, please contact your director.
• Please don’t send money, valuables, or toys with your child.

3. How do I drop off my child?

• Use the front door code provided by your director to enter the building.
• Sign in with the iPad in the lobby (instructions will be provided by your director).
• Accompany your child to the classroom and notify a teacher of your arrival.

Tip: Children’s reactions vary. Some might run into the classroom excitedly, while others may need a bit more comfort. All reactions are completely normal!

4. What should I know about my child’s classroom?

• Place belongings or extra clothing in your child’s classroom cubby. This is where you’ll also find letters and progress reports—please check regularly!
• Classroom communication boards will keep you updated on lesson plans, calendars, and important info.

5. What is the process for picking up my child?

• Pick up your child directly from the classroom.
• Sign out using the iPad in the lobby.
• Teacher Shifts: Due to our extended hours, you may notice different teachers in your child’s classroom in the afternoon.

6. How do I manage billing and pay tuition online?

• Download the MySunshineHouse app to view invoices and pay tuition.
• Invoices are issued every Wednesday, due by the following Tuesday.
• Bi-weekly or monthly payments must be made in advance.
• Auto payments are available—just ask your Center Director for details.

7. How do I download the Sunshine House mobile app?

• You’ll receive a welcome email with a link to activate your MySunshineHouse account.
• Download the app from the iTunes or Google Play store by searching for "MySunshineHouse."
• Login with your username and password to access daily updates, reports, and school communication.
